How to Save changes to borders on the fly
in the Photo Workshop Page

Summary:

New within version 8.9, borders can now be created and/or edited within the Photo Workshop of Darkroom Core, Professional, and Assembly.  Items such as Border Text, Border Colors, Graphic Lists, and Border Shapes can be added to an existing border and the changes saved by clicking on the Save Changes button available in the borders drop down menu in the Enhance and Drop Out tabs.  The edited border can also be saved as a new border by selecting the Save as New Border option also available via the borders drop down menu.

Requirements:

You must be using version 8.9 of Darkroom Core, Pro, or Assembly Edition.

Workaround/
Troubleshooting:

To edit a border within the Photo Workshop, you can access the options within the Border drop down menu.   The items that can be edited within the border are as follows:

  1. Text – You can add additional border text by clicking on the Add Border Text option or using the Ctrl + T hotkey.
  2. Border Colors – You can edit the border colors by clicking on the Edit Border Colors option or using the Ctrl + E hotkey.  This option is only available if selected in the Border Properties screen within the Border Workshop.
  3. Graphic Lists – You can edit the list of graphics applied to the border by clicking on the Edit Graphic List option or using the Alt + E hotkey.  This option is only available if you created a graphic list while adding a Graphic Object in the Border Workshop.
  4. Shapes – You can add a shape to your border or image by clicking on the Add Border Shape option or using the Ctrl + P hotkey.

Any changes made to your border can be saved by selecting the Save Border button at the bottom of the Border drop down menu.  You can also save the selection as a new border by clicking the Save as New Border option; this new border can be saved to any of the border groups already in existence within your software.

In addition to editing a current border, you can create a simple border with Text and Shapes as well by using the Save as New Border option.
