Procedure: |
The PDF printer is available within the Printer Options section of the Setup tab and will work similar to the Raster Image Printer and Generic Roll Printers already available within the software. The PDF printer allows you to choose which folder you want to output the .PDF file to and provides for a large array of print sizes. This printer will work as any other printer available within Darkroom, requiring that an order is placed and sent to the printer.
The main options that can be configured are as follows:
- The Output folder – the output folder can be specified by clicking the Browse button and choosing a location on your computer. A variable can be added to the path using the Variables button; this will allow the software to create additional folders based on the variable selected within the output folder you have chosen. For example, the default output folder within the PDF printer setup is “C:\Prints”, add a \ to the end of the file path so it reads “C:\Prints\” and choose the Order variable from the Variables drop down menu. The output folder should now read “C:\Prints\%Order%”. Now, when an order is sent to the PDF printer, Darkroom will create a folder within “C:\Prints” based upon the order id and place the PDF file(s) in the folder.
- The Filename format – a unique filename format can be applied to the PDF printer. The filename can be a static filename designated by you or you can apply a variable to the format by clicking on the Variables button next to the Filename format box.
Paper settings – the page size can be set by clicking on the drop down menu underneath Paper settings. This will determine the actual size of the PDF file. The print sizes that can be printed on this sheet can be determined by clicking on the Arrangements button and selecting all the print sizes that you wish to allow on this page size.
